HFFA Research won the authoring of an experts report as part of the broader project "Challenges for plant breeding" put out for tendering by the Office of Technology Assessment at the German Bundestag (TAB). The goal of the project is to provide a review over the potential and future tasks as well as the strength and weaknesses of conventional and ecological plant breeding.

The first part of the expert report won by HFFA Research is dealing specifically with the structural change in plant breeding and its determining reasons. The second part is conducting information on public and private research activities in the sector. Here, a special focus will be on the different types of crops as well as on their different varieties. The geographical scale of the reports is on Germany, however, relevant data and the development of the sector will be set into a European as well as global perspective.

The expert report of HFFA Research will provide background information for the TAB to inform the German Bundestag about the situation of plant breeding in Germany and beyond and to advice the Bundestag about current and future needs for action in this sector.
