Home/News/EU environmental standards: New HFFA Research Paper explores the associated costs for the German agricultural sector

A key aspect of the debate over the future of EU’s Common Agricultural Policy are public goods delivered by the agricultural sector. For a long time, German and European farmers adhere to a large number of European environmental standards and other regulations such as the Water Framework and Nitrates Directive. The costs associated with these and other standards are analysed in a new study commissioned by the German Farmers’ Association (DBV – Deutscher Bauernverband) and written by Prof Helmut Karl (University of Bochum) and Dr Steffen Noleppa (Managing Director HFFA Research GmbH).
