HFFA Research publishes its first 2015 study dealing with water impacts of productive agriculture

The HFFA Research GmbH published its first study in 2015. The research builds on an earlier publication of the HFFA e.V. (HFFA Working Paper 03/2013) and marks the second step in a thorough analysis of the social, economic and environmental value of agricultural productivity in the EU. The objective of this study is to analyse the effects of agricultural productivity in the EU on important indicators of water use in domestic production and international trade.

First HFFA Research paper published

Today the first HFFA Research paper of the HFFA Research GmbH has been published. This research paper is considered the initial outcome of a multi-annual project aiming at continuously measuring the virtual agricultural land trade as well as the agricultural self-sufficiency of the EU. It is based on a revisited methodology and most recent trade and other data, thus setting an improved standard of calculating the virtual land trade and various self-sufficiency indicators. Presently, the EU is net importing a still remarkable amount of virtual agricultural land of close to 20 million ha.
